Countdown Porirua, Countdown Johnsonville, Woolworths Kilbirnie, and Woolworths Tawa took to the court for a 1 night round robin to help raise funds for the Fresh Future Appeal.
The mixed-gender teams played five 20 minute, high energy games as friends, family and HOSPI (the Foundation's mascot) cheered from the sideline. The winning team on the night was Woolworths Tawa.
The funds raised on the evening are added to the Fresh Future Appeal collection which is held nationwide through Progressive supermarkets and finishes this Sunday. This money is then divided between 10 Children's Hospitals and dedicated children's wards throughout New Zealand.
Now in its third year, the Appeal has raised over $2.5 million to support our nation's sick kids. From the Fresh Future donation we received, we have funded several projects for Wellington Children's Hospital including a new High Definition monitor for Pediatric Laparoscopic (keyhole) Surgery, new chairbeds for parents to sleep in next to their child in hospital and a new Acute Assessment Unit to be completed over the coming months.
