3,941 babies are born in Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals every year.
1,100 premature and critically ill babies are admitted to Wellington's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) every year.
Our babies need all the help and support possible in the important first stages of their lives.
We often receive requests for clothing and quilts from the NICU staffs who do 30,000 bed changes every year.
The Hospital Volunteer Service includes 170 volunteers in the community who knit, sew and quilt 7,000 delicate items for babies in the NICU and newborns in Maternity every year. From the smallest beanies and bootees you will ever see, to quilts and incubator covers to keep the babies safe and warm.
Your donation will help us buy more materials and brand new clothing so we can help newborn babies have the best start in life.
